CARDIAC EVENT MONITORING Conventional Holter monitoring is
only effective in documenting approximately 10% of symptoms over the
24-hour recording period. Many patients will wear a Holter 3-5 times
before capturing the symptomatic episode. The physician may
want to prescribe a cardiac event monitor When wearing the cardiac event monitor, it continuously tracks the heart’s activity. When the patient feels a symptom, they press a button and the EKG is stored in the monitor’s memory. At the patient’s convenience, they can transmit the recordings over the telephone to our 24-hour staff of cardiac technicians. The cardiac event monitor is easy to wear and operate, and it can be reapplied by the patient after bathing or showering. This simple, painless procedure has proven to be an effective tool for detecting cardiac problems.
